I worked with sheet metal for many years. Kevlar gloves may have been the best thing that ever happened to our shop.

Kevlar as well as carbon fiber have been revolutionary materials….. such cool performance products made from them are now available to the world —Science delivers again!

I have a roll of Kevlar cord in my emergency kit, together with a roll of Dyneema cord.

I also keep rolls of Paracord in different types, diameter and length.

Their usefulness is limited by imagination only...

And just why didn't they call it "KWOLEK" ??? At least it would have had some association with it ! And not just a made a word !!
Or was it the usual problem, a female invented it ! Better yet a Polish female! 😮😮😮

The name of the material may have been derived from the Hebrew word for rope which is “hevel” or better pronounced “ khevel”

I would love to find out why it is so strong. Nylon is one of the first polymers to be commercialized and has a certain kind of polymer bond. What is different about the polymer bonds of Kevlar?

Girl Power! Quite literally! You can, and I do, buy Kevlar lined bicycle tires. "Gatorskins" to name one. They are far more resistant to puncture.
