You could just get one of the folding attic ladders for the entry.

You know, the one that are attached to the hatch and the fold down if you open it. Of course, this might be in the way once you are up inside.

Honestly since you already made the side hatch I would simply dump the floor hatch and make some ladder steps and a hand rail to climb on the roof of the CNC on the left at 19:08 (I which we could share pictures on YT so I could show what I mean)

Not going to lie, I would advise you remember what you said earlier in the video for the entrance point: KISS. Build a ladder into the side of your printing enclosure, when not in use, or when someone needs to pass, make it fold up out of the way, and maybe have a small extra step from the other side that folds down to make getting on to the ladder easier. Maybe use the hydraulics knowledge you're accruing to automate deployment and retraction, but a system that works in the event of a failure is more important than being flashy in my opinion.

I love when Morley does something bad or accidentally breaks something, he just looks at the camera and smiles! Love this guy.

I feel like the absolute simplest solution is a rope ladder with a tug cord. Simple, fold it up out of the way when not in use, not really difficult to build or buy, makes it more like a treehouse childhood dream lol

Oooh, build a round column with wall climbing grips that allow you to climb into the pod. It will also hide the ugly conduit pipes right by the door. It will not take up any space so it won't block the door.

its a small suggestion but paint the bottom especially the hatch it'll be a much nicer vibe like you wont think about it much but the entrance into a room definitely effects how we experience spaces but I love the vibes ^^

Another suggestion, add lights under the desk. This way when viewed from the outside it has a consistent glow instead of the top being bright and the bottom being darker. The pod is awesome, great job

Hey Morley, My name is Thomas and I found you channel only about 2 months ago but have spent any free time binging your videos and even rewatching them! I love the use of old pallets as well as the amount of creativity and passion you cleary have for this all. as someone who has been inspired to channel my love for working with my hands another way I've been saving links to the tools you use and making my shopping cart! I would love some videos geared towards compiling, tips and tricks, or "beggineers project guide" and such. I think the fun and energtuic energy you have would pair great fro the almost educational perspective for those of us who not only like seeing this stuff made but want to start ourselves! thank you if you've read this far and for the hours of content. hope you have a great day!

Can't wait for the next episode in the office pod saga! For replacing the ladder, could you do something with those heavy duty garage sliding door brackets? Maybe four of them mounted on the walls either side of where you put your ladder. One in each corner. They could serve as a track for an elevator type platform that could hold your weight. This would work well in tandem with your pulley idea in case you run into problems with counterweights, tensile strength and other pulley related problems.

Have you seen those old workbenches with the stool permanently attached to a leg of the bench? I was thinking your "chair on the hatch" problem could be solved if you removed the legs from your chair and mounted it on a floating hinge on one of the sides of the table. The other thing is, I would probably just use the "escape hatch" as the primary entrance and exit, then build a nice set of stairs up to the platform. I think I would hate having to climb up and down through the hatch on a ladder over and over - mostly because my brain would make me do that all the time while I'm working and it would get tiring.

It looks so I would suggest putting a lil grab handle at the end of the escape hatch rope, which you can hook in to some hooks down the bottom to keep it open. And the office pod, I want one.

As for the stepladder, you could send out an astronaut, catch a meteorite, extract the metal from it through multiple years of process, then pay an exorbitant amount of money to a blacksmith to forge a really, really, really nice metal ladder.

Hi Morley,
Your work is awesome.

You now have an escape hatch.
You could customize it to turn it into the regular entrance.
You also get more floor space that way.

A second idea would be to have a lift comprising of a board flooring suspended from 4 thick chords attached to 4 pulleys with motors to hoist you up. Scary when fast, little bit fancy when slow and I know largely impractical because it will swing.
You could improve it with guidance frames below but that'll make your room entrance obstructed.

A third idea would be to have a foldable ladder, which folds up to the left side of the pod under your current flooring.

A bonus fourth idea is to have a teleportation device.
Good luck with that 😉

Idea for lights, make some of the triangles that are already frosted into panel lights. They might looks amazing. And it’s super easy. LEDs on the borders.

Just put up a ladder on the right side, allowing you to go up and no moving parts 😄 Keep it super simple!

I recently watched Peter Mckinnon's enclosed office space, and now I get to see this. Seems like the world's telling me to go with a workspace that's like this and your design has added inspiration on what I wanna do with my space. Thank you so much for your video!

Also, to answer your question, and this looks like a really cool idea to get in the office, it'd probably be some sort of a mini elevator.
