Really Really Really cool cool trick that I have learned for a direct bass is to separate the direct
track into high and low and add compression and distortion...

Can’t agree more with the Pultec eq, I use Analog Obsession RareSE and it works a treat. Works really well on lot of tracks and even whole mixes.

2 Questions for ya- I downloaded the analog obsession poortec for garageband. Is that a good one for the trick? Secondly, after boosting with it, it's clipping. Is it best then to turn down the output of the plugin? Or turn down the boost knob? Thanks!! You've really helping my mixing skills!

Collin, I’m hoping somehow you will answer my question I posted elsewhere on your page. For the external apps you mention like MVMeters2 and Youlean (I believe it was) for Lufs mastering, how can I place them on the drop-down choice of plugins? I use GarageBand and I’ve downloaded one but I can’t find how to access them at all so to use on an open project while working on it.
