There's no two ways about it: The way Miyamoto is portrayed in this video, as well as the background music during that section of the song, is problematic. At the time, I thought "Well, this is what he sounds like" and I attempted to do a non-exaggerated Japanese accent. But these days, I see how that's a problem and every time I watch the video I wish I hadn't done it that way. If it offended you or made you feel bad, I'm very sorry.

sunshine is a game that's grown immensely on me over the years. the movement system alone is what's kept me coming back over and over, i've 100%ed this game 6 times by now. it would probably be my absolute favorite if not for odyssey

So the level of unfairness to mario is extreme in sunshine. No wonder why mario looked like he was about to cry when put behind bars

Galaxy is probably the better game, but Sunshine will always be my favorite. The atmosphere in the game is fantastic.

You know, I never get the complaint that Mario Sunshine is just a janitorial simulator game. The whole 'clean up the island' thing is just an excuse so that FLUDD has a purpose. You spend a couple of missions at the beginning actually doing some cleaning (which is mostly just beating a miniboss to make all the goo go away), and then a few more spread throughout the game, but the game is mostly platforming with the FLUDD mechanics thrown in, and those mechanics make the game incredibly unique.

I'd argue that Sunshine felt like more of a rushed and tedious game than SM64 (with the red coins in previously-beaten stages and the horrible blue coins), but the gameplay and level design were both top-notch, and I love Sunshine for it.

Sunshine is underrated. I think people don't realize that Sunshine was actually a critically acclaimed and commercially successful game. Sure it was a black sheep and had some tedious gameplay elements, but I found it to be fun and memorable throughout. I know not everyone is going to like it but I think the few major criticisms that can be made are overstated and don't take as much away from the game as people make them out to be.

Funny enough, I agree with everything here - the game gets tedious, Bowser's voice is weird, it definitely appeals better to kids, the concept is kinda dumb, et cetera - except for it being a bad game. I respect your opinion, but I actually find everything wrong with the game that doesn't directly affect gameplay to be funny and something I can laugh at. Tedious parts are annoying, yes, but almost every game has something like that. Sunshine is far from my favourite game, but I enjoy it nonetheless, and I enjoy this song too.

You're definitely right about that watermelon thing though. Seriously, fuck those melons.
