I don't think my parents had a gender reveal party nor did my mum have a baby shower. My mum also didn't want to raise us up with gender norms so growing up there was no such thing as girls like pink and boys like blue. I honestly remember me when I was about 5 years old and had to choose a costume for a costume party we were going to and the costume of a Spanish woman (like the one dancing emoji) really caught my attention so I wore it to the party without really thinking about how it might not be socially acceptable at the time and my mum really had my back whenever anyone would even start a sentence indicating some kind of criticism.

No, gender reveals were not a thing when I was having babies. Baby showers are to help the parents get ready for the baby. Appropriate gifts are clothes, diapers, bottles, baby bath items, toys, and children's books for preschool. Or money, money is always good, just put it in an envelope and mail it. My mom gave me a baby shower and I was so embarrassed because everyone commented about how big my but was. So I hope that answers your question.
As for me, I rather they don't do gender reveals, because whether it is a boy or girl the baby should be loved.

I like baby showers among immediate family because raising a baby can be very expensive so any gifts really help out the family. However, gender reveal parties really just feel like an excuse to have another party and aren’t nearly as helpful as a baby shower

Most of my male gay friends do agree that gay dating is "shallow" or about hookups far too often. I'm a lesbian and my lesbian friends (as well as myself) don't have that experience. So I wonder just how different dating is between gay men and gay women. 🤔

The only reason I go to gender reveals are for food. You’re right. I don’t care lol, just wish em a healthy baby. Just let me get at the food table.
My first kid, my sister and family were solid on a baby shower, I’m not comfortable with these things. My sister cut the watermelon in the shape of a baby stroller and put edible flowers inside the ice trays so ppl had cute drinks lol. It was great but never again. I felt so outta place. I do appreciate the gifts. It helped us save some cash for other stuff.

Good hack for sims builds (if we're not outright nicking off gallery) is looking up "shell" in gallery. Will usually just be a bunch of walls that make a house except no wallpaper, decor, windows, door etc - basically the shell of a house. Then you can just decorate it yourself however you want, just takes the stress of structuring it right away 😅

In my language (Italian) there are two separate words for the two types of blue as well!
We use "Azzurro" for the lighter one and "Blu" for the darker one.
Also here baby shower and gender reveal party kind of doesn't exist at all. :))

russian and polish also have two different blues (синий/голубой and granatowy/błękitny but im 99% sure most polish people just say niebieski which can mean both blues) i thinks it's sooo crazy that english just doesn't distinguish between the two other than saying like. light blue or dark blue

My brother threw a gender reveal party for his first child, and I felt so ashamed... it was so stupid, half of the people there knew the baby's gender already before the party! XD I couldn't go because I live far from him, but I called just to tell him that even if I could go, I would never. Disgusting. If you want to throw a party, just do it. Leave your child alone
