To people wondering how the movie is with the 50/50 takes on it :

It's an artsy movie. It is NOT mainstream
Horror at all. Its much more atmosphere-based than it is Jumpscare-based. Its HEAVY on symbolism and interpretation. And it doesn't give you a 100% full story. It lets you piece a lot of it together and the ending doesn't satisfy you. I loved it, but I can see how it isn't your thing.

I have not seen it but wow, judging by the comments there is NO middleground with this film in opinion. I am astonished at the 100% either high praise or 100% deep loathing everyone has been directing toward this movie. From my opinion, its probably something I'd like, but could see being very slow paced and a bit heavyhanded at times, but still yknow, an atmospheric little nice art film, for what it is. ....Maybe its glorious, or maybe its trash, but either way, I just find it remarkable how there is zero gray areas here with the response. ...I mean, even the so called 'controversy' that was the recent Ghostbusters remake had a ton of the 'meh, it was okay, ' or the 'it was dumb and boring, but definitely not the crime of the century people say it is' reactions...I see nothing of that here. And it just doesn't strike me as even that sort of a movie genre that could generate such fanaticism on both sides. Very peculiar.

As someone who watched it, here are my thoughts... Extremely artsy type film. It's not avengers infinity war. It's odd, confusing, dreary and all too real for some people. The word I would focus on is confusing. It's extremely unclear as to what's happening at any moment. I'm no art house viewer but I can respect the depth. It's not simple viewing. Glad I watched it.

Great film, relentlessly grim and well made. All is worn down, colorless, slimy, grimy and evil. Bit of a masterpiece, really. Too bad it bombed, but hopefully it will find its audience eventually.
