POSSUM a Quick Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was a very good movie. It's an excellent story. The acting is top notch. It won't shock you out of the gate. Rather it slowly and deliberately draws you into a bad (and worsening) situation. It's a bit disturbing psychologically (which is right up my alley). It's good to know there are still lots of great horror films out there to be discovered.

The wallpaper through out his stepfathers house was the most terrifying part of the movie

Its about the visual hallucinations a grown man experiences as physical manifestations. These are trauma responses to the sexual assault his father enacts on him. Its a truly agonizing to watch a grown man live in fear and trauma forever and be under the clutches of your own father, now as a grown, however, depraved, man. The possum represents freedom by killing his abuser or ending his life. Its a sick coming of age film.

“The parcel opened, out it sprang / The black, long-legged spider-man". Contains one of the most memorable monsters ever seen of film. Completely terrifying and surreal. One of the best horror flicks this year.

Saw it today at the Telluride Horror Show. It is super creepy with two great actors driving it. The slow build up and payoff won't please everyone. But the creepiness and acting are top notch. And yeah, the Radiophonic Workshop made a great score to nerd out to.
