Blender 2.8 Tutorial : Transparent PBR Texture Painting

preview_player
Показать описание
In this Blender 2.8 video tutorial I show how to do transparent textures painting. I create a material that uses texture slots like Albedo, Roughness and a Transparent shader.

The transparent shader and a principled shader is combines using a Mix Shader, and you also have to change the Blender Mode to Alpha Blend to be able to paint in opacity to your textures.

You have the best Blender tutorials on Youtube. I learn quite a bit more from you than anyone else. Thank you.

FOR ANYONE getting stuck! it's very important that, when you create the roughness and transparency material slots, you set the base color to WHITE! otherwise it won't work when you try to paint black on them. And, make sure you set the transparency texture node to non-color and set plane's materials > settings > blend mode to "Alpha Blend" and yes, this works in Eevee as well as Cycles

Hey, thanks a lot for the tuto. It was not working for me until I changed the BLEND in my TOOL SETTINGS from MIX to ERASE ALPHA. Then you can control the level of opacity you remove with the strength.

Cheers!

I don't know if creating a transparent node is necessary. You can plug the texture into the alpha socket of the Principled BSDF and it seems to do the same thing (unless I'm missing something).

Yes thank you great tutorial as always i do hope the add transparent shaders in normal view so we don't have to use Eevee or Cycles Renderers to view the transparente materials again ty for great tutorials

I'm trying to paint the one texture transparent, but when I activate the alpha on the texture, it's adding the alpha to the other texture as well, even though I've done everything the same.

it is not working with blender transparent background, i mean if you render this to png it will be just painted black not transparent

I must say Blender's approach to things like this is not beginner friendly, is it not possible to have the black in the base color in texture paint act as an alpha transparency instead of going through the nodes ?

Do you happen to know how to paint right on the UV editor screen in the current version of 2.8? I can't seem to find a way.
