I remember watching this comp, essentially what happened was that he started it and topped it, but was only told that his start didn’t count after he finished it. According to ifsc rules, competitors are to be told of a false start immediately. This happened twice, then he did it the third time and got it. This isn’t Duffy’s fault, it was the judges. It wasn’t necessarily hard climb either, it’s just that Duffy had to do it three times wasting his energy because judges wouldn’t do their jobs

If youre gonna post info then post it correctly by, for example, mentioning that he got pissed because he had to do it thrice with the judges never telling it was a false start until after he cleared it.

The fact that he managed to complete the course in record time even after accusing the judges of rigging the thing is honestly more impressive than just finding out the issue and giving up

These climbs should be ones that only judges that have cleared the course can judge so that theyll know what it takes to do it

Remember, judges also didnt validate a skaters backflip because it was deemed to dangerous. She was the first one to do it in competition and they thought it would inspire more people to push themselves, its almost as if thats what athletic improvement is like.

His start was fine on the second and third runs, yhey called him out on the second partway theough claiming he had momentum from yhe start despite it being clear in the footage he braced on the first hold and launched off of it, not the ground itself. They also let him fully finish that run before telling him they had decided he was disqualified, forcing him to do the run three full times instead of just starting twice and then doing the full run once.
