Saraswati (সরস্বতী in Bengali) is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, art, music and wisdom. She is worshipped with equal devotion in almost all parts of India. Saraswati puja takes place on "Vasant Panchami", which falls in the month of Phalgun (January-February). In almost all households in West Bengal, it is celebrated with utter dignity and dedication. While growing up in Kolkata, this festival had a special place in our hearts, as it was the only festival we used to celebrate in our gali (পাড়া in Bengali).
Now as we moved to Poland last year, we were little disheartened to see everyone back home are taking part in the puja but we can't. Luckily we have a active Bengali community here in Warsaw and the association members left no stone unturned to make the puja happen this year. Kudos to them!
Needless to say it was an experience to share with you all.
