Just a little suggestion if I may? Regarding the wall behind the sofa in your office; if you hang a big mirror, it will reflect the light from the window and make the room brighter x

Save the plastic for gardening (can be used as cover for greens and baby veggies in spring) or to protect the floor for painting projects. Reuse it!

Highly suggest putting slabs inbetween the existing ones! Supports the matress better and does wonders for the lifespan of a matress :)

I'm lucky to be a carpenter and I always have a huge wood supply for my wood burner but I would really recommend you ask around local furniture makers, they always have tons of wood they're desperate to get rid of maybe even for free

That fireplace - what a find! As for your bed, I've had antique beds with slats for years and your slats ARE a bit far apart. I would ask your guy to add several more slats because your mattress will suffer over time.

I would recommend having a piece of plywood cut to lay flat on the slats to keep your mattress from falling through the slats at all. Much more comfortable and should still be thin enough your mattress fits.

Heating with wood is actually CO2 neutral bc the trees store the carbon and the money you pay for the wood goes to the foresters who keep planting trees and caring for the forests :)

Beautiful fireplace, my but those little Woodburners don't half kick out some heat, so a large one would make you feel as if you are in a sauna!. It will be magical when all finished, I can just envision what it will be like next winter all cozy and snuggly.

I love the new fireplace. Very lovely!
For the under bed storage I'd suggest covers (if you don't have some already). Speaking from experience, it is the dustiest place imaginable.
I would too add some more slabs. As long as there is still some space in between for ventilation, it's fine.

We are decorating too, multiple rooms, so can appreciate how long it takes and living in mess all the time. I think we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
