If I’m China, I’ll leave Tesla alone but put a massive tax on Ford and GM

Isn`t it Ironic that all of the defenders of "Free market capitalism " including Elon Musk, have suddenly become staunchly in favor of protectionism? I guess when competition becomes tough the
tough cry for HELP!?

I doubt if China will return the favour with tariffs. They produce twice as much as America and export to America way more than the other way around. I think they do return the favour, just not in an obvious way. Noticed how China was not panic by the sanctions or tariff. In contrast, America is throwing anything at China and hope that something sticks, that says a lot

More expensive EVs for Americans please, surely they can afford it

Fine, China doesn’t even sell any EVs to the US. In return, perhaps Chinese airlines should stop buying from Boeing altogether. Let’s bet who hurts more.

Kevin Williams
I went to China, drove more than a dozen EVs, and sat in dozens more. Had a lot of conversations, learned a lot of things.
One thing's for sure -- we're absolutely cooked, and it's probably our fault. China's EVs are better.

"After seeing it with my own eyes, I finally understood why Chinese independent brands are so popular among so many people. This made me a little embarrassed, (because) I tried to understand that the exclusion of these Western brands from the Chinese market was due to political factors, not It's their own fault, but what I've seen with my own eyes is that while China is trying to make progress, we just keep complaining."

China should put up tariffs on all imported US consumer products.

America not getting Chinese EVs at affordable prices will be America's loss. If you ever visit a large Chinese city where majority of the cars are EVs it is an experience to behold. The once smogy city is replaced with blue skys and clean air and whisper quiet streets.

White man maths. If I hurt you please don't do same to me

If I'm policy maker in China I would just do nothing. The Chinese EVs are very competitive in China and Tesla is barely holding ground. The Detroit ICE cars are almost gone. There is honestly no need to make any policy change and U.S. cars are being shown the door by market right now anyway. Just let Detroit hide comfortably behind the tariff and grab the rest of the world. The only people missing out are just U.S. consumers.

Do you know why BYD is cheap ? Because they produce all parts for vehicles. All their subsidies produce all parts autonomous. Close circuit all sulking chain they own. So of course is cheap. No any other automaker in the word can do that except then.
