Call No Man Father! Do Protestants Really Know the Bible?
_________________________________________________________________________
Are you tired of all the confusion in the Catholic Church? So was I! For this reason, I decided to intensely study the Catholic Magisterium in order to discern between what people say about the Catholic Church vs. what it actually says and teaches. If you are a confused Catholic, or are discerning becoming a Catholic, Reason & Theology offers you an in-depth examination of the situation in the Catholic Church that will help make sense of the confusion.

“Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ”

When I first openly announced that I returned to Catholicism on several Catholic youtube vids, several people trolled me for doing so. I had just assumed they were atheists or neo pagans, but later I realized that they were protestants. One of the things they would attack me on was the use of the title Father when referring to priests. Thankfully, I took a Bible study course through my local Catholic Church a few months earlier and knew the answer right away. The word "father" means "teacher". In Hebrew culture, the children would learn from their fathers, so that they would learn their family trade. Rabbi means teacher, because a rabbi is a spiritual teacher. Pope also means father, and in turn, means teacher. A priest is referred as Father, because priests are our spiritual teachers. Without fathers in our life, then the context of using Father with God would be meaningless. There would be no definition. We are children of God. God passes down his knowledge and wisdom onto us like any father here on Earth. And like any child, we learn from our Father and we obey our Father.

The New Testament letters have many instances of father-son symbolism, such as how St. John refers many times to his followers as "my little children."

I’d also like to mention Acts 7:1-2 where St. Stephen refers to the elders of Jerusalem fathers, and 1 John 2:13 where he calls the elders of Ephesus fathers.

Interesting how in the comments, the protestants are not engaging 1COR4:15; but are only engaging with MAT 23:9. Do they truly know the Bible as well as think think!?! 🤔

I always bring up that if you look at Puritan America before Catholics came in large numbers many of the Congregationalists and Presbyterians called their Minister Father so and so. When the Catholic Irish showed up they adopted the practice having called the priest Mr. or Don in Europe, then the Puritans began to change the title and say "Call no man...."

As a Lutheran, i agree. One should not make dishonest arguments like that.

Michael Lofton brings down the hammer of truth to smash heresy yet again!! Keep going Michael!! Thanks for more tools to chip away resistance with. I saw someone shut down an entire thread by posing the question “what do you call your dad when you’re introducing him to someone new?” 😂😂😂

Protestants be like: there is only the bible.

Also protestants: lets cut 7 books out of it, and that thing JC said about bread and wine BEING his body and blood... i bet he meant that it represents his body and blood.

I love that you show the truth. I've heard from so many protestants that take this quote out of context.

Even if St Paul never said. The Lord said in the same passage to call no man teacher (or doctor) and master.

Mister derives from master ( in French " Monsieur" translation of mister, literally means " my lord), and "Sir" derives from "Monsieur" (my Lord).

It is funny how protestants that call people sir, mister, doctor, teacher ( actually some protestant preachers have Doctor as title) pretend like the parts about masters and teachers don't exist.

Even assuming the only title forbidden for many on earth was father, most protestants still address the MEN that beget them as their father.

Yes, i am aware of it. PAUL said I plan Apolo water, but it is God who gives the increase. The message of the Gospel would be the same as reading a telephone book if God had not worked and willed in us to guide our heart to exercise faith in Him . Thus, the real Father is our God.
