Wish I could say that this helped a lot and that I grasped the basics of perspective, but I really have no idea what's going on.

Mate, let me tell you something, I’ve tried to understand how to mirror shapes and forms in perspective since I was a child! No matter how many books I read, how many classes I watched or how much I searched online, I could never find an answer.
*You solved a deep, irritating, 15-years-old problem in 2 minutes. Thank you so very much*

also, the part that I’m sure most are getting confused on— the construction of the mirrored plane.

the book, like this video assumes you know how to construct a mirror plane without ever properly explaining what it even is. if you are attempting to mirror vertically, your “mirror plane” can be thought of as the ceiling, or floor depending on which way you are duplicating—up or down. If you are mirroring horizontally, you must imagine a perpendicular wall adjacent to the plane you have drawn in step 1, this is your mirror. hope this helps someone, took me a second to think through it.

Really liking these - a lot of Robertson's book can be confusing without a real voiceover to accompany it. Please continue😊

I couldn't get through Robertson's 'How to Draw' without this! Agree with the comments, this deserves more views.

I think these tutorials would make a lot more sense if you did the perspective points, since they are made for beginners. They are quite confusing because some steps are skipped.

this channel is like a gold mine
at 1:25 i had such a stupid look on my face, with all the "tutorials" i've seen about perspective, and stuff i read online, this is the first time the question that was bothering me most was answered, and it was so frustrating because i didn't know how to formulate the issue i had into a sentence

I'm a bit late but I'm so glad to finally find an useful perspective video !
I was so tired of "one two three point perspective blablabla" saying the same thing over and over again !
I never thought about perspective like geometry but now it seems to make so much sense !
I tried all the things you did in your video, it's hard but useful. I think there's too much ultra beginner frendly tutorials out there, if we really want to learn perspective we don't care if it's hard or not.

Bless you for this. I have the book but it was pretty confusing to understand without a visual demonstration. This is incredible. Please never stop drawing <3

This is how to tech people quickly and easily without BS. This tutorial is allowing people to learn who have virtually no experience, while giving them an instant hit of confidence and self accomplishment. Really great work!

This video should be called “how to eyeball perspective”

Didn't understand this whole Series the last time I've watched it, now it all makes sense. I guess I've kinda grown as an artist? Cheers!

Shit. I wish my professor taught me this technique in my mechanical drawing class years ago. It would have made drawing a wine glass in perspective MUCH EASIER.

I knew about finding the middle point of a rectangle in perspective by connecting the corners, but I didn't know it can be applied this far lol, thanks for the tutorial! It helped a lot with drawing more accurate vehicles (since they're symmetrical in perspective)

This is awesome, took me half the video to realize what you are trying to do when you duplicating lines but once I know what you do, holy Christ it’s like I won a lottery

To understand what's going on, I had to watch this same video a couple of times. People, don't give up!! This tutorial is difficult, I know but if you follow the instructions he gives at the beginning of the video (to watch perspective basics) and repeat the exercises he proposes until the basics about perspective are built in your mind, through repetition, eventually you'll get the idea of perspective!!

Each person has it's own time to learn something, so keep practicing and don't give up!! :)

(For some reason I could not add this as a reply)
Thanks man, because when the construction lines get dense it can really through me off. So i just need to practice them a lot and also internalize them, to get more comfortable with them. Thanks for the response.
Funny enough i have both of Scott's book, "how to draw" & "how to render", but i always seem to keep reading the same chapters rather than moving forward. Thanks again though.
