I’m wondering if she is suggesting that these diagnosis are late onset autism? I would think that these kids were just not diagnosed earlier because it’s so, so hard to get a diagnosis. That they should have been diagnosed earlier, but were not because our healthcare system in the USA is so messed up. We have been struggling for a year to get a diagnosis for our grandson. Roadblock after roadblock are put in our way by insurance. We are hopefully getting there next week, but have already been denied because “he looked at me when I asked him on the third try.” Ignoring all the other signs. They make it so hard. 😢

there’s been some correlation between excessive pain medication use and autism. i wonder if that could be the cause- and perhaps lower the rates of it.
… before anyone gets triggered, i’m not saying autism is bad. it’s just not ideal to live with. i have autism and my life would be a hell of a lot easier without it! i think a cure- or at least treatment should be available. especially for those with extreme autism.

Unfortunately many parents cannot afford to pay out of pocket for any sort of therapy or help, and their government does not provide any real aid either. It's a very devastating, very helpless sort of feeling to watch your child slipping away while society tries to sweep you both under the rug.
