Love your reviews, Steve. Crystal clear vidio, the new audio test, gaming, movies and TV....not overly techie but just techie enough. I'm pretty much sold on the U7N although I'd prefer the U8N but Costco doesn't look like it's going to carry the 8 and I refuse to pass up the extra free 3 year warranty and 90 day return window they provide. Keep up the good work!

😅Purchased last week..great picture with a glitch. It randomly disconnects from our Vizio soundbar. I unplugged for a few seconds and it's been okay for now. Off center viewing is terrible. Definitely worth $749.00 for the 65U7N. As always..enjoy your informative reviews.

This curve is essentially the tone-mapping process that adjusts the HDR (High Dynamic Range) content to the brightness limits of each display.

Here’s how the DV curve (tone maps) works:

1. Mastering & Content Creation: Dolby Vision content is typically mastered up to a peak brightness of 4, 000 nits, although the format allows for up to 10, 000 nits. This means the original content is graded for a very wide range of brightness and color, far exceeding what most consumer TVs can handle today.


2. Dynamic Metadata: Dolby Vision includes dynamic metadata, which means it provides scene-by-scene (or even frame-by-frame) instructions on how to tone-map the content. This dynamic metadata adjusts the HDR content to the capabilities of the display in real-time.


3. Tone Mapping to Your TV: The DV curve comes into play when this content is shown on TVs.

Not to mention no TV has a 12 bit panel

Honestly I still have a Sony x950h not more than happy what I can do I will not upgrade until probably next year maybe even a year after because there hasn't been a big enough leap forward yet even going from 1, 000 to 3, 000 nits is not that big of a jump I was going from no HDR to HDR
