I think she spoke well and really explained and uses parables to help you to understand her speech.

Beautiful speech. Love the tales to go along with exemplifying the humanities.

10:10 - 11:53 This was such an interesting point, probably the example that made me like the video so much. I also enjoyed the Oedipus example.

All of us "study" the humanities from childhood. There is no evidence that the study of humanities is confined to universities or that humanities departments add anything or make us "better humans".

I'm a student within the humanities. Now, I know that I can understand fictional stories better than the average person. Obviously, that makes me a big deal.

Now tell me: Should I apply to Burger King or McDonald's?

I like everything she is saying and I agree with it but these employers do not care if you have critical thinking skills, they think its a given when I apply for jobs they want technical skills. I think inhumanities are important but it is the employers that don't value it.

The goal of the humanities is to become a better human. However, in recent times, many fields in the humanities have failed to deliver on this. Gender studies, in particular, are painting someone as the victim and someone else as the oppressor. It's not empowering. There needs to be more rhetoric in the humanities; these gender study participants aren't fulfilling the role of becoming better humans. That's the problem with the humanities.
