downloading software is why you don't need the disk drive, between the mac app store and being able to get apps direct from the developers site like CS6, i don't see why you would ever go out and get a physical copy of an app. I don't know anyone who sill carries around a CD walkman.

Read again. I believe she is talking about Macs not being mainstream since the review is about the Macbook Retina. In desktops and notebooks space, Windows is the mainstream player not Apple which has only 10% marketshare.

I do agree its the best laptop as of today but I couldn't bring myself to pay over 2k for a pretty much disposable computer IMO. So I'm going to purchase the 15" non retina ivy bridge update.

Did you even comprehend sunflower's reply? Read it again carefully.She is talking about Macs (iMacs and MacBooks) which are not mainstream because Mac only has10% of marketshare. The iPhone and iPad is mainstream, Macs were never mainstream. Windows still dominates. Google "Macs vs PC marketshare 2012."

On products, it it was iPad and iPhones I would agree but Macs have a very small marketshare compared to the PC so its not really that mainstream - yet.

I agree expensive, but I disagree with too expensive given it makes it seem like they aren't a good value. Nobody knocks the Bugatti Veyron for being too expensive, its a high end luxury product that isn't in a race to the bottom.

Your perspective is messed up. It's a gadget show. Gadgets cost money. Even unaffordable things in this context can be interesting, because what is cutting edge and niche now could well be commonplace in the future. It's not always about materialism, sometimes it's about futurism, and you really shouldn't need that explained to you. Some people just have a fascination with tech. I guess what I'm trying to say is "u shd open ur eyez".

Recognizing your perspective is messed up isn't the same as saying only my perspective can be true. Maybe you ought to work on your comprehension before you claim others are stupid.
