Making cards that'll be this integral to competitive play such high rarity is predatory and will price out a lot of players.

To be honest, if you put aside the fact it introduce a Maxx C like in a format that didn't wanted to see that kind of card again (Which is already enough), the fact it's a close mandatory x3 that cost most than 100 euro per copy when we are more and more vocal about the price problem (and after an overall bad year when it come to product) is what make that card problematic

As far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter if these Mulcharmy cards were literally Maxx "C" straight up; if I have to pay $40+ each on a secret rare that I need x3 of for any competitively viable deck then I will just not play a competitively viable deck. This kind of predatory nonsense from Konami is absolutely disgusting at best.

The thing about the "minigame" in the TCG about main decking 3 ash, 1 called by and 3 crossout is that for crossout to work, you still need at least 1 copy of the card in the main deck. This would be fine if the card wasn't priced at 100+$ for a singular copy. So it creates this "borrow from a friend syndrome" just like we had with trident dragion for tenpai. Only difference is that that was an old card that didn't get reprinted, and this is a new card that won't get reprinted any time soon. So your choices are either to not play a deck that plays into this card (like centurion) or to play a deck that does play into the card (like yubel) and play the "minigame". And not only that, but in the future, deck building will also get constricted, since now you have to play 4/7 cards in every deck before adding any further cards. So overall:
1) Limits deck building creativity;
2) Has an insane price point which will discourage a lot of players from playing;
3) Creates a minigame before the duel even starts;
4) Limits deck choices just by existing;
Not looking forward to playing in this format at all.

Making this a secret is such a huge middle finger to players. Josh is a pro-player, he obviously invests a lot of money on this game, for most players this is simply not feasible

Like everyone, the pricepoint is a dealbreaker for me, but I generally don’t like cards that can single-handedly win a game if the top meta deck draws it and I didn’t open some interruptions I can just set. If I have to abandon course and make a 1-2 interruption endboard and they open a board breaker and a starter, then it is just going to feel miserable. If every card was a common and I could pivot decks for nothing, then I would be more willing to give it a chance, but I don’t want to find out that my deck I thought could work under fowalos just doesn’t. I know I am catastrophizing a little but the principle of how this card was released and works just upsets me.

It's still extremely strong but the actual issue is the price. As long as it doesn't go down below 10$ at most it's super expensive.

Making a card so good it gets played in pretty much every deck, and people also include all the outs, and it's also very expensive, yes that kind of ruins the game.

What infuriates me is that they keep making mandatory cards (if you play competitive) secret rare and obviously they get very expensive. It's fine if I can't play a deck because I cannot afford, say, Diabellstar, but I really hate it when I cannot play ANY deck because I cannot afford Droplet, or SP, or Lightning Storm, or Purulia, or Fuwalos, or whatever the next overly expensive staple will be.

Konami as a company really needs a wake-up call and they absolutely need to adopt better practices that are more favorable to the consumer.

Due to the price point, I might just go play Edison at this point

Let’s be honest here Josh. The card exist so whether or not people like it at this point don’t matter. I appreciate in this video that you are trying to make the card seem less as bad(and I agree) but it’s not the real problem.

The real problem(which you mentioned) is the price & accessibility. Because of this card, the gap between the best decks, & other rogue deck stretches further. People who had a chance before will struggle more. If konami made this card accessible right away let’s say… in multiple rarity EVERYONE would pick up the card(let’s not lie about it). I think that it would be better this way then to only have a certain few who can afford it. Yeah, I understand Konami has to print it later on to make more $$$, but I’m sure everyone can also agree. THIS card will never lose its value in early reprints. Maybe later on, if the card keeps getting reprinted, but I still don’t see it. It’ll drop then, rise back up.

Imagine they make a third mulcharmy that draws everytime you search or draw... x'D
Btw i just keep playing my Voiceless deck. :)

"Does going second Maxx C that can be used twice per turn and cost 150 a piece ruin Yugioh?" ...yes

Memento can make basically "full combo" giving a single draw, depending on the way you play it can even play around an ash/imperm topdeck

I'm proud of all the people who're simply not going to play over this. Not supporting the TCG's bullshit is the only way they are ever going to change thm. I seriously urge all players to walk away until these abusive practices die.

Fantastic analysis, practically got every point going through my head dead on.

I agree with your points. I think the card WOULD be very healthy for the game if everyone could get their hands on it. But knowing Konami the next reprint will not be until the next maze set or even the next tins at a high rarity.

Fuwalos really hurts the *current* best decks like Yubel and Snake-Eyes, but why is that a good thing? A banlist also hurts them. We don't need a meta warping card to change the meta and all future metas to fix Snake-Eyes and Yubel. Sure, right now it doesn't hurt the likes of Memento, Centur-Ion, Rescue-Ace, Voiceless Voice, Labrynth, Tenpai. But at the same time it hurts a LOT of other decks. Salamangreat, Marincess, Raidraptor, Blackwing, Virtual World, HERO, Mermail Atlantean, Blue-Eyes, Insects, Generaider, Plant Link.

It's just as bad in some ways as Maxx C, in that it warps the meta around itself. Killing some decks if they have no good way to play around it and killing future decks that can't. Which nevitably leads to Konami printing decks that play around it better, more power creep, cycle repeats etc... It's overall poor design, that narrows the pool of viable decks. Forcing people to play certain types of decks, which is the antithesis to what makes Yugioh great. I suspect it'll get banned at some point in the TCG. Staples that warp the meta and card design around themselves are always bad for the health of any card game.

Whether it’s good or bad, I think the implication that if maxx gets banned in ocg/md and the multicharmy cards brings the 3 formats closer to each other, that would be interesting. Rn the 3 formats feels like different games.

TCG environemment was better than OCG because we didn't have Maxx C. Now is no longer the case. I am considering quitting ygo because of Fuwaross (and the future multcharmies: konami will surely print 1 for each attribute...). Let's see how this format evolves
