Beekeeping | WHEN To Add Your Honey Super & Queen Excluder

Beekeeping involves intricate decision-making regarding the optimal timing for introducing the honey super and queen excluder. A critical aspect lies in discerning the ideal moment to add the honey super, as tardiness can result in a missed opportunity for a bountiful honey harvest. Conversely, premature placement may lead to an unwanted influx of small hive beetles, as the bees have not yet established their presence in that area. Furthermore, the use of a queen excluder warrants consideration: is it a recommended practice?

David that honey comb on top of the frames is there for a reason . It is there for the bee keepers to have a snack while working the bees as a test sample of the honey. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. THANKS

I appreciate all of your work in your videos. You have some very interesting topics. But sometimes just watching the standard inspection is so interesting. It’s great because the more inspections we see the more variety we see between one hive and to another. So I’m very happy seeing videos with just a standard inspection. Thanks so much!

4 year beekeeper and I have never had a queen lay up in the supper. Stays in the bottom with 1 deep box only. Maybe I'm just lucky. It could be that North Idaho doesn't get rolling till June so there's not as many brood.

I like the idea of removing a frame in the hive for more maneuver room. Both my 8 frame and 10 frame Flowhive brood boxes are very tight, almost too tight to get the frames out without rolling bees (and after smoke).

Hay David. How about a video explaining how to remove all your supers at once for harvesting? I get asked a lot by new beeks, that if they take all the supers off, what will happen to all the bees that were in those supers now they have considerably less room. As we're about to hit that time of year, i can just point them to your video and not have to keep explaining over and over😂. Thanks for all your hard work and education skills. Paul

Great video today thanks David. Great tips! My two packages are doing really well I just put on the second deep on both my hives!!! My carnelians are doing better than my Italians. They are a little further along. Hoping they even out and just do great!!!
