AGL: making rural Australia look ugly... Using corporate welfare

The government of the province of Ontario Canada is doing the exact same thing and seeing as mobility here is easier than in Australia we are seeing a fleeing by industry. This is resulting in an economic slump coupled with higher electricity bills. I posited a while back that electricity consumption will drop by the end of the next winter after the people who no longer have jobs freeze to death. Good video, thanks and have a nice day.

If the majority of your funding isn't going towards fusion research, then you're not serious about replacing fossil fuels.

Been saying for ages, but we need to scrap the embargo on Nuclear energy. There is no better suited country in world seeing as we have minimal faultlines, supreme access to fuel, vast area for waste disposal and incredible access to fresh water. It's not a demand side, short term fix though so the government won't do it

For $9 billion we could build test and multiple production Gen IV nuclear energy plants.

ironically nuclear power is a great solution for us. this tech has come leaps and bounds in the last 20 years and Oz has some of the purest plutonium in the world ( in large quantity). our current tech in solar/wind/turbine just isn't as effective or as efficient as coal or nuclear. it seems more prompted by the gov subsidies and profit margins.

You know what would make clean and affordable energy, with lower maintenance cost than solar farms and wind turbines, and taking lot less space? It starts with "n" but nobody wants to talk about it.

Thorium-powered molten salt breeder reactors are the future of energy production. Safer, cleaner, no chance of meltdown and several orders of magnitude more efficient than current nuclear reactors. And even current nuclear reactors are safer and cleaner than any other form of power production, including solar, wind and hydroelectric.

I wish more people took an interest in this.

Fun Fact for you... i was going to make a video on this. Iceland is one of if not the cleanest energy place on the planet. But on the Bill 79% of electricity in Iceland is said to be produced by nuclear and fossil fuels.
About 85% of total primary energy supply in Iceland is derived from domestically produced renewable energy sources. that is geothermal energy about 65% and hydropower is about 20% the rest is the share of fossil fuels (mainly oil products for the transport sector) was 15%.
so when the big countries say they are lowering is bullshit. they are just using quota from places that are not using theres.

Australia privatized the electricity industry and in 20 years we have gone from having the cheapest electricity to the most expensive. This is after governments promised you it would be cheaper through competition what a %$#%&$* joke!

Nah man just be like WA and have 1 power company because monopolies are awesome

At this rate, soon it will become cheaper to simply burn actual currency to generate electricity rather than pay for renewable energy.

Just a point, those windmills, are they the same design that means they have to be locked down if it gets too windy???😐😑😣

Electricity should either be 100% government run or not at all. Instead of giving money to companies that are making millions and billions and promising lower prices they should put solar on every home and a nuclear power plants in each state
