Can I suggest that before you build your foundation for your new house that you treat the area for termites. It would also be advisable to dig holes about 1m deep around the periphery of your house with small gravel at the base and insert 3" plastic pipes to enable you to retreat for termites every year. Remember to fit a cover over the top of the pipe so that rain water is kept out.

Jhay, I'm glad that you and you family have learned so much from the Filipino people. I remember the first time you experienced a severe typhoon in your place, destroying a lot of establishments, structures, trees, etc. People were so confused, panicked and so afraid most wanted to fly out to other cities just to escape the uncertainties of Surigao. I remember you, Sacha crying but your daughter Story, full of hope especially since it was the Christmas season. That episode of yours was titled, "Reacting to RAW TYPHOON DEVASTATION Odette Has Destroyed Siargao", and this was my comment...

""You ask, "How are we going to recover from this???" One day at a time.... that's how you recover Jhay... one day at a time. That's how Filipinos do it. After every strong typhoon in the Philippines even in Metro Manila, it is normal to have debris, no electricity, no water in some areas & of course no communications be it telephone, internet or what have you. Usually we rely on AM radios. Food, we just rely on what we were able to store but since most of us are used to this types of calamities, we store more than enough. That's how we learned & I hope you learn from our experience. That's what makes Filipinos resilient in times such as this. Wait till you experience a strong typhoon with flood inside your home where you see all your furnitures, appliances floating. It may seem overwhelming and scary... but still we survive. Maybe God brought you to our country to learn how to be resilient so that wherever you go... you & your family will survive. And when you and Sasha are long gone... Story and the generations after you will remain as survivors because there was a time in your life when a small group of islands taught you how to survive calamities and in the end gave you a big smile after all what happened. There's way more that you have to learn about the Filipino people :-) Be the man to protect your family... be the member of your community who will help them. Numbers 6:24-26""

So what am I pointing at? When you see that the horizon seems to be good, plan and implement while you can. When the horizon seems bleak, hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. When the horizon crumbles because of natural calamities... live one day at a time re-building, remember there is always that light at the end of the tunnel when you keep going. That's WHO the FILIPINO'S are.

Raise the level of your land by dumping some soil as i noticed water puddles when it Rains. To protect your foundation and being washed away when flooding

Hi from New Zealand Jay Sacha, Story and Rob. My Filipina wife Lina, noticed on this video, there are a few fruit bearing trees on your land of different varieties. You might want to seek Filipino advice on which trees they are so you can save them. Bob n Lina. NZ.

Don’t build under a coconut tree….the coconuts will break stuff and you when they fall. The wind will knock them down in storms! Beautiful property! Plant fruit trees!

Beneficial to collect rain water and filter it and also have a good solar system.👍😊
