Oh, and there are other Arduino variants that can be had for around $10. They are more stripped down, but still very usable.

Thanks for the video! I had to make sure what was in it before actually buying it. Also we're using Arduino Leonardo in our robotics class, so I guess I'll have to buy it separately.

It's about 6"x 8"x 2.5" from what I remember. I have passed the starter kit along to a local makerspace, so I no longer have it in front of me to measure. Hope that helps.

I bought a MAKE Arduino Uno Starter Kit at Radio Shack and the Arduino Uno wasn't in there! It was some unknown circuit crammed in the box! Hopefully not all the kits are defective because I really want one.

I'm thinking of getting this but I have one question, can the 16x2 LCD show text like this:

Temperature: 26
Wind Speed: 7MPH

Also, (I am new to this) if I learn a little programming and I have the parts, can I make it update constantly?

Well, as I see it, there are certain things that work for certain people. Not everyone is going to want to, or necessarily be ready to, flash a new OS on an android MiniPC. Also, there is an amazing amount of information on working with the Arduino already available on the internet along with a lot of shields; this makes it very easy for someone who is just starting off to get acquainted with writing software, working with microcontrollers, prototyping hardware like sensors, motors, etc.

I don't get it. Aren't there $40 android hdmi sticks? How can that board have quad core cpu and gpus, 2gb of ram all in a package that's 1/4th the side of a raspberry pi, while boards like this one and the pcDuino are bigger with WAY less specs and more expensive. Why not just flash a new OS on the Android MiniPCs?
