I spent some time struggling with hotel california. All the tutorials were capo on the 2nd or 7th. I just couldn't get on with it. The 5th works perfectly for me. I googled around & nobody else seemed to be using the 5th. This vid made me feel better about it though.. :)

I have a busted up left shoulder and have pain playing in the 1st position. I solved it by downtuning a whole note and then have the capo on the 2nd fret tuned to standard tuning with the capo on the 2nd. My left arm doesn’t have to reach too far so I can practice and play for hours instead 5 minutes.

I am an absolute beginner and do not understand music theory at all, and I was wondering if I am an idiot for wanting to do this. I saw videos about transposing the key, and it was so complicated. I don't understand all the letters and chord names, and I felt like.... it's just higher with the capo xD xD Thank you for validating me that this is a legitimate way to change the key and have fun singing :)
