IN my younger years I drove cars from the early to mid 1960s with manual transmission, manual choke, manual windows, manual key switch, manual headlights, and bench seats. These cars did not have power steering, and power brakes. Most everything on these cars was manual. My large SUV has a running board because the door level is about 16 inches above the ground surface.

Small but actually important feature was not mentioned... those little vent windows. Not thought about was that when riding with the windows open those vents could be opened and deflect the air speeding by leaving the inside calm and quiet. Also more handy for flicking the cigarette ash then the ashtray.. not a fire risk.
