Hi, I stumbled on this video b/c I have a Samsung and ice buildup inside the ice maker and want to share this. I am not a technician or certified but lived with this nightmare for 4 + years. I am not talking about ice buildup in the fridge (I don't have that issue yet thanks god). What I discovered is this...the ice maker has a sensor that stop producing ice when it is full.

So, for 4 month, I would constantly check the ice container and if the ice is half full, I turn off the ice maker manually. I am not saying this is a permanent solution but this is what is happening in reality. My ice maker compartment will work perfectly as long as I turn off the ice maker when it gets half full.

If I stop monitoring and let the ice maker fill the box up with ice, then the nightmare freeze begin. Again, I have lived with this and have proven this many times.

In my opinion, there are 2 solutions. 1) buy a new fridge (most likely not a Samsung brand). 2) I don't know if Samsung is reading this and if there is a way for them to modify the sensor on the ice maker to stop producing ice when half full (so I don't have to constantly monitor it and turn it off myself). I know they have sensor built in to stop when the ice reached the top but I wonder if they can modify it (after the fact that it has been designed initially to stop at full). It might not be doable since they have to physically rebuild certain components and how the sensor was built and location to check for full. Again, I think only Samsung can answer this question and if it is something as easy as updating the firmware, it would be a great service for Samsung to make this change for their customers. But if it is more than just updating the firmware, I would agreed it is sol for us suckers who bought these units.

So does the booster kit replace the heater you installed? It seems like either or for those. Secondly, if I order the booster kit do I still need the ground wire? Thanks

My Samsung refrigerator RF260BEAEWW does not have the ice maker in the frig area. I have a constant problem of ice forming on the bottom of the frig under the big bottom drawer. This builds up every week or so. Is this the same issue explained here? Would adding the heater solve this buildup? I have not pulled the cover in the back of the frig to see if ice is built up on coils. Thx for the great videos.

Hi, thank you for the video. My Samsung refrigerator has the back panel iced up, but I turned off the ice maker from the beginning. I don't use it. The back is still icing up, but I have it off in the settings? Should I still seal the icemaker?

What about just adding a bigger clip- Samsung Refrigerator Evaporator Drain Clip? Will it solve the problem (ice buildup in cabinet freezer only)?

Do you have a video that shows how to fix the ice build up in the ice maker as shown in this video? That’s the problem I’m having and I’m so frustrated.

Best thing to do is avoid buying a Samsung refrigerator since Samsung will not back up their refrigerators despite a class action law suit. I talked to Samsung people directly and they said that my warranty expired. But yet they still build the same ice maker and won't cover the problem.
