The universe is fine tuned for us... except we cannot survive in of it. Hell, 71% of the earth's surface is covered in water that we can't survive in.

The fine tuning argument = I don't know therefore god. Oh not just any god... my god.

The big problem with the fine tuning idea is that it is based on complete speculation. We have no idea what the probability is that the laws of nature would be what they are. We don't even know that they could have been different. We have zero evidence that the speed of light, for instance, could have ever been anything other than what it is.

More like ... Theism is "finely tuned" for those who need an answer IMMEDIATELY .

A finely tuned universe wouldn’t have comets and asteroids flying around smashing into things in it. That’d be like making a clock and then just chucking any spare nuts and bolts you didn’t use into it.

If Earth is the only planet with life then life is s fluke.

We can only evolve where physical laws allow. Occam's razor.

Yup. In a nutshell, every argument for a god is either, or both, an argument from ignorance or special pleading. Every single one.

and which god is it the best argument for?

It is not really an argument as a ridiculous claim. With what other Universe are we comparing this Universe to show design which is hallmarked by simplicity.
It does more to and adds to the evidence against a god.

I believe God could play a guitar better than Eric Clapton.
(even if it was badly tuned)

Actually, the Universe if fine-tuned for shit.
If the parameters of the universe were any different, life could not exist and there would be no shit. The only explanation for this is the God fine-tuned the universe for shit.
In fact, God created shit in his own image.

We only have an existence in this universe because it supports our existence. If things were different we wouldn't be here. Simple really.

No one believes there is a God, but some people do believe other people who have told them there is a God.

Why would an all powerful god need to fine tune anything to begin with?
Can’t he just make it so we don’t need oxygen, an atmosphere, or proper sunlight and nutrition?

This isn’t what I would expect from a god.

'These critical factors, they easily could have been different.' Does this mean anything other than 'l can imagine them being some other value'. So, does 'I can imagine them being some other value' mean 'Because I can imagine them being some other value, they could have been some other value'?

It’s silly: first god creates the phase space where most emerging universes are going to be lifeless—then he has to “fine tune” our universe to survive in that hostile space he created. Bumbler!

It's dumb because God would have tuned the radio to the stations, but he also is broadcasting on the airways, so it doesn't matter what station he dials in. Any station playing will be ''the one''. What I'm trying to say is It's dumb because God writes the rules. The fact that everything follows the rules so well, when God wrote those rules means that literally any tuning would work if God merely changes the rules so It's a moot argument.

God can’t do “anything.” He can’t make a square circle. He can’t make a universe that doesn’t make logical sense.

So what he is saying here is that an all powerful being, which after all God is supposed to be, wouldn't need the universe to be a certain way for life to exist. Presumably, with his power, he could make a place for life in a universe of any critical factor values at all.
