In many religious circles, being sanctified is a synonym for growth. Is sanctification a process of doing more and obeying more to become more acceptable to God? Or have you already been sanctified (set apart) as a person?

We were already justified and sanctified...it is finished, was already done by God and NOW we are walking in it, living in the reality of it through the Holy Spirit who lives inside us by faith.

Thanks Andrew. I'm so tired of the legalism in churches. I even listened to a sermon of a pastor the other day and while he always says salvation is from faith alone, the sermon simply replaced the old testament law with the new law of Christ. It's so frustrating when churches can't even get on the same page over what brings salvation.

I think what most people mean by sanctification is being conformed to the image of Christ which I think is gradual process.

My hands and feet curled over and I felt myself die and peace and joy filled the void

If a believer in Jesus is not sanctified, then Jesus's work of his death, burial and resurrection and ascension is incomplete. Jesus said, "it is finished." Just as we were saved by grace through faith. By faith I believe "it is finished" and I can add nothing to my salvation by my own self righteous works. Andrew is spot on with the truth of sanctification. Thank you brother Andrew

I looked up sanctification in Got Questions and they are teaching the people who do not hear you that there is three different stages of sanctification….of course they do not mention 1 Corinthians 1:2 nor 1 Corinthians 6:11 but I can see why they believe in progressive sanctification based on the scriptures they list…..

It be great to see you do a sermon on the topic of God not remembering sins anymore but yet in Revelation chapter 2-3 we have Jesus remembering sins of the church, charging them with it, and also promising punishment for those sins if not "repented" of.

But it's like the Bible says; WE ARE SANCTIFIED or SET APART ALREADY through the precious shed blood death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ alone first, then afterwards, we learn to SANCTIFY our ACTIONS or BEHAVIOR(we learn to SET APART our ACTIONS or BEHAVIOR by WALKING IN THE SPIRIT instead of WALKING IN THE FLESH).

Grow up to salvation! What do you mean?

There are three relevant authorities of the Holy Trinity and all these are witnesses in sanctification. Hebrews 9:22 is only remission of the old covenant by blood, not forgiveness of sins.

What Andrew is missing is what is called the fruit of the spirit. This is not a behavior, this is the love of God that has to grow in us and maybe that’s what some call Sanctification these growth is what Jesus was talking about in the parable of the talents, And this fruit is love
