When an Orillia, Ont. construction worker named Brian Fernandez saw a bottle of French’s ketchup at the grocery store, he made a Facebook post about his support for the made-in-Canada ketchup and went on with his day. He had no idea what he was about to kickstart with one simple post.

The Ketchup War (a new short doc now streaming free on @cbcgem) is the story of French’s vs. Heinz and how the people of Leamington, Ont., (a.k.a. the Tomato Capital of Canada 🍅) got caught up in a seriously patriotic food fight.

We've had a whiskey war, why not a ketchup war. I'll go with French's, I support our people, not corporations. Sorry Heinz.
