The instruction to start by pressing the "*" + "#" key was especially helpful as our previous code wasn't working for some reason and the directions (in official instructions) to change your code may not work if for some reason the code wasn't working. One additional point is that with my LiftMaster, for some reason, you also need to press the "0" button twice at the end (final step of setting code).

Good video. Here are things I learned the hard way before it worked. 1. Chamberlain, Sears Craftsman, LiftMaster, Master Mechanic and Do It openers manufactured from 2005 to present and have a PURPLE smart button- the programing ID is the number 3 2. When setting up for the first time, it is BEST to have the Keypad in your hand 2 feet from the door opener unit (original 1st connection is the most important). 3. Start this procedure with the garage door DOWN. 4. When you are entering your 4 digit code of your choosing, hitting #, hitting garage door ID number (in my case the number 3), then hitting # YOU HAVE 5 seconds to do this or you have to start over. After doing this hit the smart button with the key pad 2 feet from you. After confirming it works, then attach keypad to the outside of house. Hope this helps

The key for me was pressing "0" after entering my code to act as the "enter" button. I had programmed multiple times and I thought it wasn't working because I kept skipping this step.

Couldn't get it to work. I got a type 3 so my ID should be 11. When I enter the ID the panel does not flash. The "learn button" also does not react at all. Getting frustrated with all this by now
