Drove a cattle truck from the Netherlands to Russia from 2006 until 2012 with dairy heifers to many farms east of Moscow and liked it there. Met a lot of nice people there. Also transported 8 loads of deer from Latvia to forrests around Moscow which was to restore wildlife there.

man, the subtitles are pretty wild "they come for the seaside and the scent of Europe." Good stuff

Really interesting how Vladivostok is located so close to the three capitals of Seoul, Beijing, and Tokyo but culturally so different.

I want to add watching this video, that in every country of the world there are rich, people in middle class and very poor people they need constant aid from us. As I can see, this video desxribes every aspect of reality in this city of Russia and this is what evey good minded reporter is obliged to do with no superstitions and political directions.

IN the early 80s I used to drive to Point Reyes (Calif.) beaches; roll out long antenna wires, and listen to LW/MW/SW Soviet broadcast stations - all audio recorded for posterity. THAT was fascinating in my late teens and early 20s!

I knew a boy many years ago who went to military school from the age of 10, I saw him again about 12 years later which made him about 22 or 23, he was already a Captain in the Army (permanent force) he was so removed from normal reality, he was part of the fabric on the uniform and the culture, he died at the age of 26 when he was in charge of a tank brigade, he died while standing on top of the tank, he was the only casualty in the assault. I guess the uniform does not stop bullets.

I do not know so much about their culture because here in mexico, the russian culture is not shown on our history books but I felt happy when I saw this kid being accepted is like damn "I have never seen something so perfect". a nice life actually, they have a reason to live to fight for their love ones, to have a family. "die 4 something or live 4 nothing" ..

In fact, there are so many beautiful places in Russia and it is not always cold and gloomy everywhere, as American and European directors always show. I live in the southwestern part of Russia, we have very short winters, summers are very hot and dry. During the holidays I often go to the mountains. I’ve never been to Vladivostok or beyond the Urals, I try to travel more often to cover the whole country, but I haven’t even traveled half the country in my 30 years. Russia is a country for Russians, so everything will look unusual and uncomfortable to a foreigner.

It is the Wild East, and the town literally means "Wield the East", like a pillar or cornerstone. The very brinkland, a frontier in between of ancient civilizations and North-Eastern wilderness for millennia, since times immemorial. Where any West there is and to whom - to the Japanese?

Very interesting video. I am surprised they still adressess each other as "comrade" even it is supposed that Russia is not communist anymore. Thanks for the good work.
