This SpongeBob Episode Was A Little DARK

SpongeBob SquarePants has never shied away from being... weird, but the earlier seasons of the show brought us more than that, it brought us darker episodes with more... let's jsut interesting themes. Anyway, this episode of SpongeBob we discuss today was a little bit dark.

The fact that Krabs tried to kill a man over free food, shows his true craziness. I remember when he sold Spongebob for whatever was in the guys pocket lol

For some reason, I thought this was a normal funny episode as a kid. The extremely unrealistic behavior of side characters adds to the humor too with Spongebob and Mr. Krabs acting very blatantly sus and the cops just disregarding it, and the health inspector more or less being nice and even giving them a passing grade after all the head trauma they gave him in one day.

Fun fact, the road where they tried to bury the inspector is called “Shallow Grave Road” 😂

This was and still is one of my favorites. I think I probably know the whole episode by heart at this point.

I mean this was still early spongbob where the characters weren’t confined to their one trait. Like prior to this episode spongbob tampered with a Krabby patty by putting jelly in it. And krabs albeit still greedy wasn’t 100% about money given that he put of with his daughters wild changes to the Krusty krab just so he wouldn’t hurt her feelings. Like modern spongbob sure but seasons 1-4 this pretty in character for them

It's not often I feel genuinely threatened by some dude I hardly know on the internet. But, my man, holy hell... All you had to do was show Squidward's foot and say you could show *THAT SCENE* at any time, and I nearly cried IRL. Well played, you evil genius.

Fun Fact: My father worked as a Health Inspector his whole life. On the side he did the voice acting for the French Narrator of SpongeBob for the Irish translation of the show. When this episode came out, the producers asked him to do the Health Inspector's role too. It was my favourite episode because it gave my dad the most lines.

I just watched this episode again last night! I always found it funny how casually Spongebob (the show) has an episode that’s just a straight up attempted homicide. And Krab’s reactions to it are nothing short of darkly hilarious. “Oh he ate it, listen to him choke. Look at him SUFFER! Arg arg arg arg.”

I was in High School when I first saw this episode. I couldn't believe what I was seeing in a Spongebob Cartoon. It was nuts. Still my favorite episode just because of the WTF factor, lol.

The darkest episode from a kid's cartoon I can remember is Haunted from Teen Titans. Even when I was young and didn't understand the full context of the episode, it still gave me chills even then. Its one of my favourites though and carries a very important life lesson.

To be honest, this episode could've been avoided had Mr. Krabs and/or Spongebob asked the health inspector for some identification (He IS wearing a badge) to prove he's legitamite, or even check to see if they received a heads' up warning. Most health inspection services are required to warn the restaurant of an upcoming inspection..

"All That Glitters" was an episode of Spongebob that kind of freaked me out as a kid. Particularly the monster krabby patty and the fact that Spongebobs spatula actually *dies*. I remember whenever that episode came on I would have to close my eyes during the monster krabby patty part of it. I think Spongebobs distress caused me distress
