I'm Australian and once I was going on a hike with my dog and my dog got out of her leash and spotted this skunk looking at her directly in the eyes. I carefully moved back away from the skunk but my dog barked ar the skunk and it sprayed! we took three long bass in tomato sauce but that did nothing!

Skunks are the cutest, sweetest critters. I gave a skunk and he's awesome. They barely ever spray, even wen spooked.

Skunks are cute, they just don't know that they weren't supposed to build their home on that very very nice spot and they didn't know that it was YOUR house... They didn't even know that your house was a human's nest

Not all skunks are like this. I think they should have fixed the crawl space up before they moved in. There's ways to do that. I know raccoons, oppossums, etc can be pests but there are humane traps that you can set up and have the animal taken to the wild where they belong. Poisoning a wild animal is illegal in many states and you can get into trouble for that. Also letting the wildlife officer know that an animal has been trapped is important.
