Myopia or short-sightedness causes blurred vision in the distance but reading up close is clear.
High myopia (greater than -6) is a more severe form of myopia and occurs when the eyeball grows a lot more than it's supposed to. This axial elongation or lengthening of the eyeball raises the chance of retinal detachment, cataracts and glaucoma.
This is one of the reasons that those who are myopic should attend regular eye examinations.

In children and teens, who develop rapidly progressive myopia, we would recommend a myopia control management programme. There are now various methods that can significantly slow the progression of myopia in children, helping to prevent serious eye conditions later in life.

This is exactly what I see, and I’m in high school. It’s sad because at school, people would always think when I said “very blurred vision”, I was faking it. No one would ever believe me, because they always thought when your eyesight goes really bad, then it’s just darkness, but that’s not always the case.

I'm -7 myopic in my right eye, and -7.5 in my left eye. This is an accurate representation of the blurred vision I experience. Even very up-close objects are blurred. I can only begin to see things clearly when they are about 7cm away from my face! Its unfortunate and sucks! I'm thankful for the invention of glasses and contact lenses! 🙏👀👓🤓

My prescription is actually -8 so this was pretty accurate but I honestly think my vision is even a bit blurrier. It sucks cause I can't even leave my house without my glasses on. Everyone keeps pointing out how thick my glasses are because the lenses pop out and my insecurity just grows. I'm too young for LASIK. I'm still so young, what if it gets much worse? :/

I have myopia and this is similar to what the video represents. Your vision is normal and clear, but the thing is that you can't see medium sized letters from 8+ feet away.
