Just a quick reminder that all pricing listed in Intel's slides is the 1k unit pricing, NOT final retail pricing. Generally speaking the final pricing is slightly higher, $10-30 is typical, although it varies from CPU to CPU. Even with this in mind, these are still quite significant price drops for those 8 and 6 cores and puts most parts in competition with Ryzen 3000

Intel:
TDP 65W in stock, but 165W in full load

Everything sounded pretty good up until "you'll need a new motherboard". I was about to tell my friends with 8th gen they could finally upgrade for cheap.

Looks like an sudden outburst of logical reasoning have occur in Intel marketing department.
Unfortunately for Intel, all it takes for AMD is to lower the price a bit.
Considering that Intel also want you to get a new motherboard, Intel is still screwed.

To be honest, Intel's gonna have to get even cheaper than this for me to care about their lineup anytime soon

Hopefully this translates into even cheaper Ryzen 4000.

Until Intel start supporting motherboards with decent upgrade paths like AMD have done with AM4 i will NEVER buy another Intel cpu again. Not to mention the fact they never discount older chips (which is disgraceful) and are too expensive to begin with!?! They've alot to change before id ever even consider them again . . . . .

Ryzen 9 3900 12C/24T X U$400
"New" i9-10900K 10C/20T U$500
Nice Intel

14+ infinite, double the power consumption, high price, new socket type unable to upgrade from last gen, no PCIe 4.0. That's a NO from me even even if they do make a 15-20 FPS difference.

Remember when desktop highend was 4C8T? And people defended that?

As long as they are even close in performance and price, I will go with AMD.
Without AMD giving them real competition, Intel will give us very expensive, under-performing CPUs.

>Whoaa MSRP look nice
>See local retail price
>I think Ryzen 3000 still best option

Intel: Hey bro, we heard you like Skylake?

Intel: So we made you some more Skylake!

Awesome to see Intel start competing on price, but my god it's depressing that they keep making a new socket for every generation and it really undermines the better prices somewhat.

I feel like Intel are still stuck between a rock and a hard place on these ones. All it takes is for AMD to lower prices by 5-10% here and there and suddenly Intel's 10 core i9 is more expensive than a 12 core 3900X, or the seemingly budget friendly gaming option in the 10400F has to go directly toe-to-toe with the 3600. They're not even really competing at the low end, as AMD has already preceded the new i3's with the 3100 and 3300X - the potential selling point of "i7-7700K performance at Core i3/Ryzen 3 pricing" has already been basically swept out from under their feet.

Couple that with continued platform longevity concerns and the looming launch of Zen 3 and I think Intel have still got their work cut out for themselves. It's great to see HT across the whole stack and as a whole 10th gen seems much more competitive than 9th gen but I can't help but feel that Intel needs Rocket Lake on desktops pronto (assuming it is some kind of backported 14nm Willow Cove core), or even Alder Lake, though that could be more in the Zen 4 timeline at this point.

And those Pentiums and Celerons are such a joke... For that price just get a used (whole) PC

Will this be enough?
Short answer: No
Long answer: LMAO NOPE

I have a feeling this is going to be a paper launch for a long time

okay then, these i7's and i5's are interesting. but why they didn't made b460 for overclocking, the only reason that people didn't buy the i3 9350k is because the motherboard for overclocking is too expensive
