Training footage from FightHubTV's channel (Please don't copyright me!):

Dmitry Bivol utilizes the jab in a somewhat peculiar way where he launches his whole body forward while shooting it. This almost leaping jab adds a great deal of power to the shot since the weight of his whole body is behind it. You may think he does this with an explosive movement, but Bivol executes this effortlessly and this is due to him first building a rhythm shifting his weight back and forth. This helps him build momentum so when he shoots the leaping power jab, the startup is carried by the momentum of his rhythm. This results in the punch having maximum power with minimal energy expended. Will this work against Canelo Alvarez?

This is Soviet Style Jab. You turn your hips more into it, even pivoting a foot while shooting a jab. It's really technical way of doing it.

In past I actually thought that it's not right to trow a jab like this... until my kickboxing trainer taught me this and I found out that this is actually Soviet Style. Super good, uses maximum reach, proper technique gives you passive defense while throwing this jab and also Soviet Style footwork is much more balanced(they remain more on the back foot while throwing the jab)... You don't find yourself on the front foot so much and dont' over commit... which means less counters.

It's amazing to watch all of these fighter from Post Soviet Countries like Lomachenko, Usyk, GGG, Bivol. It's pure technique oriented style. Absolute art... western style is more physical and pure raw strength driven

Bivols Jab is so powerful yet efficient is bec it’s coming from his feet then shifts to his hands. His technique is almost like when a pro basketball player shoots a 3 pointer. Where it starts from the feets then energy is released through the hands.

Where are all the Canelo fans who said ginger was going to deal with this easily? Bivol schooled Canelo. Easy money.

It's a beautiful shot, and so much harder than it looks. Feignt and a punch in one. To sell it, time it and land it accurately with power while staying balanced takes a lot of skill. Golovkin is an absolute artist at these too.

His leaping jab is so perfectly executed you'll miss it unless you have a keen eye for boxing. The video made me appreciate bivol a lot more

Eastern European school, we all box like that, even in western Europe the only reason it's effective in the pros for bivol ( because it's mainly a style effective for high volume pace bouts in the amateur rankings) is that he also knows how to fight inside

It's a super powerful jab with excellent timing and accuracy. He generates extreme power from that hop and let's it fly. He throws it so often, his opponents tend to think it's a set up jab but it lands flush 90% of the time like an overhand power punch. But it's still just a jab. A really powerful one.

Great breakdown of a technique. I can tell the amount of editing you did for this vid amigo. I appreciate when real passion goes into projects and the quality really shines.

It’s a lot of work to sift through a bunch of different videos, adding text, voice over, effects, splicing it all together, and then rewatching your own vid over and over to make sure it flows cleanly like Bivol’s jab/hook.

''The beginning of each punch to look the same '' Yeah, that some real trickery there. Awesome !

The genius here is his mastery of it, but the idea itself is not something new

Looks like what I (and Dempsey) would call a lead hand jolt. That "falling step" adds a lot of power to the jab, as the fighter's whole body weight is behind it. It doesn't look powerful but can actually hit with a decent amount of drive. It's great for establishing control of the center of the ring, as it can literally just force your opponent back even if blocked. If you've got long arms, occasionally drop and snipe the body with it too, to mix things up, then throw in a gazelle hook periodically. I've had good effects with left jab hook combos on southpaws as well (I'm orthodox).

Excellent breakdown and editing. The slow motion commentary captures the perfection of the technique.

What's funny to me is that this isn't really a new development in the world off boxing. This is fundamental boxing, which Bivol has an amazing grasp of.
