Blade Runner and Dune are great examples of truly immersive worlds in films for me too. Thank you, Erick.

Wow!! This came at the perfect time. My first feature is about 80 minutes.

Overall, his position is a good one; however, there are many top-tier elite filmmakers who would disagree with him about how much control and influence a studio should have. I’m sure Chris Nolan would have a few choice words about this topic.

"Gravity" was a tight film. Very rewatchable. One of my favorites.

Some good points, but I feel like a filmmaker should have 100% free control I mean if David lynch, Quinton or Nolan heard this they would probably lose there minds

Toby Hooper’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre was good example of less is more.

"I have made this longer than usual because I have not had time to make it shorter." - Blaise Pascal
And also: "Always leave them wanting more" - PT Barnum.

I’m almost afraid to find out how he would re-edit 2001 a space Odyssey, if he were so inclined.

The Dark Knight is a great example of less is more.

I agree with Weber; The greased up bodybuilder playing sax in Lost Boy's is a scene that defined a generation.

Also agree that less is often more. When it comes to showing gore or showing the monster. Less is often more. The xenomorph from Alien was scarier because it was often in near total shadow. There is a deleted scene showing the entire creature standing and walking and it just takes away the creepiness of it-- the mystery. There has to be some mystery left to the imagination.

What movie have you re-watched numerous times in the theater and why?

Well said. Two heads are better than one. Less is more should be a rule :) Thanks Karen.

What movie would be so much better if the run time was shorter?

There should be a place, where the information about what stories should do, like a site, where people can comment on movies?

The Batman has a strong visual style but a bad story. At 3 hours long, the bad outweighed the good. Take away an hour, I might’ve actually enjoyed it based on the direction alone.

Thank you Erick! So true! Del Toro’s world building is everything. Love Nightmare Alley & his special work with actors. Bring your characters in real world. When Erick said that, I immediately thought of Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas.

The whole "what you don't see" being of paramount importance is such an overlooked concept today. It seems like writers desperately want to explain things but for me that just ruins the story.

I watched The Hunger Games 3 times in theater

Drive sucks, and this dude is all over the place. He’s saying the studio needs to step in and have more strict guidelines of length and direction, then later says the directors skill and vision is the most important thing for a film. Like which is it? They aren’t mutually exclusive but it does contradict itself to a certain degree

This was weird. How would shorter films from the masters be better? So he basically wants Michelangelo to put down his paintbrush, wow. Not my cup of tea though.
