You forgot to mention if you die at any time at all after entering the code and grabbing the paper you have to completely reset

The easiest way is to do it with your brother and make him the blindfolded player in the maze then your brother can look at your screen and know where to go

We got to the correct valves inside the maze but it wont let us turn them, what did we do wrong?
