Aw, I am kinda disappointed there's no thematically themed unlocks for Classic mode, like "Beat Classic on Hard with Donkey Kong" to unlock K. Rool, or "Beat Classic mode in under XX:XX with any character to unlock Sonic" but apart from that, cool!

I used the close and reload method of getting characters, but after getting 10 new characters, I haven’t seen another character.

Here’s one that’s worked great for me so far. You need to do this in normal smash. This is a combo from this video and another I’ve seen.
1.Stock battle set to one.
2.Set cpu to level 1
3.Turn on damage handicap
4.(optional) adjust things like no items and set the stage to Omega to make it easier.
5. Set opponent handicap to 300%
6.After you beat the opponent and the new challenger turn off the application.
7.Repeat steps 1-6

As someone who isn’t great at the game, I’m finding unlocking characters so hard. The battles with the new characters sometimes feel impossible to beat. And I typically play with the CPUs on like level 7. I have 54 characters so far but I’m kind of sick of trying now lol

I just play through the world of light and then leave every 15 minutes or so. It helps me grind through the campaign and you usually get an upcoming challanger almost every time you leave. Over the past 15 hours or so I've almost beaten the campaign and raked in almost 70 characters

Actually just go against a 1 level cpu and then keep repeating that match until a challenger appears, when you finish that fight reset the game, in return this will reset the timer between one encounter to another, if you fail to beat the character the first turn around then go to “games and more” then choose the little door icon on the corner, this will allow you to fight the challengers you’ve missed before
(Ok so you can also change the language between one unlock and another)

Actually you can just go to custom, and click the tiny icon on the bottom right, and you will automatically get a new challenger. Also, even though you can restart the game, you still have to do a match, but I recommend 1 stock

Easiest way is get 2 players (i just used both joycons myself) jump around in a 20 minute time match the after that you will get a challenger then close the smash app and reopen play 1 stock and jump off straight away get another challenger repeat closing the app ect

You can unlock a certain amount of characters when beating classic mode with one of the original players. In order to get some characters you have to beat it with Mario about 8 times, and you’ll get a new one each time before you run out. Then you’ve got to beat it over and over again with each character in a row to get them all, because each character has a set character to fight when beating classic when beating classic with that character for a certain time.

I think it would be cool if there was setting called Smash History or something where you can play characters and stages only based on the game they came from, such as Brawl and Melee
