What's funny is.. I legit wouldn't mind if they expanded the weird balls.. like imagine a whole set of balls for each evo stone, having it *just* be the moon stone makes it.. feel incomplete

No, No, if you use a burn heal on a Dragonite while on the top floor of bellsprout tower, it evolves into Godzilla!

Ogrepon goes in the friend ball. Period.

The fact that if you just change the love ball to work on the pokemons of the same egg group instead of the same species, it's actually a pretty solid ball

So that's why Blaine recommended Burn Heals in gen 1, he was truly ahead of his time.

There should be more aesthetic pokeballs. I don't care if they're bad, that just makes the challenge of shoving a legendary into one all the more satisfying.

“I don’t want to use it now! What if I need it LATER!?” That hit HARD.

"Sure, it's for Moon Stone Pokémon, but I have Lunala in the Moon Ball! Aren't I the coolest?"

Before the SV DLC they were also available rarely at auctions for obsenly high prices and as even rarer rewards for the post-game school tournament.

You might think that the Moon Ball oddity is due to the fact that they forgot to convert the ID of the Moon Stone when coding in the boost criteria for it. In Gen I, the internal ID of the Moon Stone was $0A. In Gen II, this is the ID of the Burn Heal.

Actually, that is only half of the reason.

In Gen II, evolution methods are stored using three bytes: one for the evolution method type (level-up, item, trade, friendship, Attack/Defense comparison for Tyrogue), a parameter for said method (evolution level, item required, etc.), and the Pokémon that it evolves into. The game is supposed to check the *second* byte for the item ID, but instead it checks the *fourth.* This is the byte for the method type of the second branched evolution. So it is looking for the tenth evolution method type - but only five were programmed in, so it is still impossible to get the Moon Ball catch boost during normal gameplay.

Real ones used the Moon Ball for Ursaluna, the Friend Ball for Ogerpon, and the Beast Ball for Terapagos. It just fits too well

These shorts are getting more and more unhinged and I'm absolutely here for it 😂

HGSS definitely was nice for fixing all the previous flaws of design on the set of them. And you could drop off entire large batches of Apricorns at a time rather than just one.

And the Heavy Ball was not a bad addition with enough Pokémon to absolutely have merit.

You can’t trade Heavy Ball catches outside HGSS was the only caveat to how valuable that Heavy Ball can be, though.

“Pokémon has got lots of poke balls” my dumb ahh went like “actually” searched up how many pokeballs there were

Id love expanded pokeballs that had different effects
Like a dawn ball that works better during the daytime so the dusk ball has a counterpart
Or more pokeballs that work better on different types
