Also my wife is russian, from Saint Petersburg and I'm italian. When I firstly visited her parents they imnediately loved me without any test... И её бабушка тоже... although бабушка was a phisich teacher and as I am an engineer I got a little test in elctricity subject...

Had a Russain GF and her parents loved me, though I had a huge advantage being someone who studied Russian history and art so I could keep up with them and point out were everything came from. HUGE points, as well as being able to drink the father under the table by playing the drinking game with gin, my drink of choice. Russians are not use to drinking gin straight.

I remember the coldness of a Russian woman who was running a store in my area. Her answers to my questions were short/cold/direct/to the point. As soon as I spoke Russian to her it was like I was family.
