Always interesting to renovate and remodel older homes. Took out the tile in a shower in a 1950's era home. The ceramic soap tray that was set in the wall had news paper packed behind it. Was able to see when it was printed and had some cartoons making fun of the USSR leadership as well as advertisements for the area.

One thing I have started doing for any toilet or vanity replacement I do is automatically replace shutoffs and supply lines. Too often I have had one or both fail on me in trying to save the customer a buck. Piece of mind knowing those two items are new and its in good shape.

14:30 Bathrooms are as straight as a broken what? 😂 I’ve never heard that one before but I’m taking it with me to work! Lol

Work on my grandfather's old house continues, and this is great inspiration. The next major interior job is a bathroom remodel. It's a house from 1962, 3 bed 1 bath. The bathroom is small so I want to expand it a bit by taking out the oversized closet that's in there. The bathroom has some old octagonal tile I'd like to save and reuse, we got sub floor issues from years of a leaky bathtub my grandad never did anything about, so I gotta chunk it all up and replace the flooring. I'm not looking forward to it lol,

This series is awesome! Your explanation of the why you do the things you do and the order of operations is a winner!!

I may catch flack for this but even at 33 I very much so recommend wearing knee pads anytime you are on the floor. doing this stuff plus liking to go on a run once in a while vs elliptical/bike my knees are starting to feel tired

We just did our master bath. Mostly. New, larger shower. Love it. New captains chair, new floor, new granite counters on the two-sink vanity, as well as around the garden tub, sinks were replaced with undermounts. Replaced big mirror with vanity style framed mirrors, and gone are the dressing-room banks of globe bulbs. Floors were redone in vinyl plank.

That's why I have a small bucket for the sink drain!

As a retired lighting /cameraman, good to see your approach to soft lighting. Most Youtubers suck at getting light on whatever their shooting. 👍

I always seem to run into problems. My house in 1959 though. I admire you for wearing the Rolex while doing real work. I have one and I baby it.

Do you have a video showing the 1/4 turn ball valve replacement of the old style water valve?

As a newbie DIY guy, I would have assumed that the old linoleum would have to be torn out. Even if it and the subfloor are still in good shape. Good to see that it can stay in place and help get the new tile to the correct height. Looking forward to the rest of the videos for the project.

its nice to watch and most of us think they can do it. the thing is he's getting paid for his years of exp not for how easy he makes it look. Only his tools altogather cost more than your car :) but it's so nice to watch him work, rly.

The "yummay" when you took the sink out 😂😂 Great video!

I don't know if I missed it, but what did you put down over the sheet vinyl floor? I assume you don't really have to worry about water resistance with the vinyl staying down.

Agree 100%... if you are handy, you can save a ton of $ doing it yourself. Contractors will tell you everything needs to be replaced to try and up-sell the job. Total cost for my job... perhaps $800. The new tile was the most expensive part.

I'm in the middle of revamping my 1/2 bath as part of a family room re-do. New T&G ceiling, new tile floor and all new trim & paint. I had to break up and remove the old tile (crappy grout job). The toilet, sink and cabinet were in great shape, cleaned up well and will be re-used. I just spent perhaps 3 hours total repainting the cabinet to make it like new. Tip... as long as the toilet is yanked, pull everything out of it inside, clean and rebuild it from scratch with all new plumbing parts. It will be just like a new one. Replace your water shutoffs as well, as long as everything is easily accessed (ball valves of course).

16:15 man I’d watch an hour long of your videos, heck, even 2 hrs at one go! Way better content than what’s on actual tv, seriously 👍🏻
Cheers and hope make it to the stream, as always a “hoot”!😂
