Does Passenger Load Affect EV Range? Feat: Nexon EV

In this video, we drive two identical cars - the Tata Nexon EV Long Range and put them to a range test. The difference? One car only has the driver on board while the other has 3 additional passengers plus ~40kg of luggage load in it too. The test takes both cars through the city, highway and inclines to get a balanced drive route.

EVs need a really different driving habit. I have 2 XUV400 during first 2 months I was getting 260 to 280km range. But now after 10 months I am getting 350 to 360km in Fast/City and fearless/Sport mode. Also I never drive with Fun/eco mode now😅.

Great work guys. Not easy. But, you could have done some analysis on this data and plotted some graphs to actually get the idea of delta. 1. City
2. Highway
3.Uphill
4. Downhill

Best on ground analysis of an ev so far. Considering the travel cost per person the drop in range doesn't seem too concerning. How the load affects the battery health in long term life is remains to be seen.

I think all transport companies should do there ARAI and range test should be done with all passengers in the car

I don't get why companies don't make a smaller ev vehicle for 2 passengers in the form factor of a bike but covered. 4 out of 5 cars in Bangalore have single passengers commuting to office and its an incredibly wasted opportunity
