I have an oval face shape. While it’s true that we can wear many styles of shades, IMO narrow rectangular frames do not look good on us. They sort of divide our face, making our foreheads and chins look long while making our face look wide/fat.

I'm light skinned and I wear dark shades with no problem. Still get compliments. I hate yellow anyway but brown is cool.
