Girl I'm gonna tell you right now, you come to America and say "howdy y'all!"... you're gonna get a howdy right back.

I'm an American, and I feel like the only time I ever hear the word "fanny" is when someone says "fanny-pack". It's not really a part of most Americans vocabulary.

Texans will NOT scorn you for howdy y'all. They'll howdy ya right back.

Saying "Howdy ya'll" in Texas will only get you a Howdy back, now go to NYC and say it lol

As a Texan, I would definitely be tickled by an Irish woman visiting Texas saying "Howdy Y'all!"

I'm an American and over 20 years ago(In my Impetuous Youth) when my Irish cousins came to the USA they talked about going out for Craic. I replied No thank you, a little beer or weed would be fine. I didn't realize what they meant till they explained it.

"I am pissed." does not mean drunk in the US, it means you are angry.

One of the greatest days of my life! I spent the night in Cork and shared a cab the next morning with two ladies going to Blarney with me. I sat in front, 'cause I'm the polar opposite of shy. I started talking to the cabbie. After pleasantries and where we wanted to go, he asked me, "So, ya here visitin' family, or are you on holiday?"
I said, "Well, we're on vacation, but I do have ancestry from here, I just don't know how far back they came to the states."
"I tot so." he replied.
I said, "Really?!"
And he said, "Jaysus, ya look more feckin' Irish than I am!"

Also in America when some one is “cracking up” they are laughing really hard. So that’s fun

I lived in Dublin from 1971 to 1978, I can’t imagine asking for a car bomb anywhere. The nightmare of the Dublin Monaghan bombs are still very real to me.

Texans will be absolutely fine with you saying "howdy y'all". Guaranteed

The Irish part of me agrees, but the Norwegian part objects. The German part simply wants to wear socks with sandals.

I'm a Texan and I love it when anybody says howdy. I work with guys from India, and I have them all saying howdy now :). It's awesome.

Eh, as a Texan, we just assume EVERYONE says "ya'll, " so say it all you want! 😉 Ya'll is universal! Revel in the ya'll!

Tell Americans not to do something, we will go out of our way to do it.

Americans generally pronounce “patty” and “paddy” the same, and they both sound like paddy.

I just spent a glorious week in Ireland!! It was definitely great craic. I came back and my mom asked “How was it?” I said “I definitely had some great craic!” Dead. Silence. XD

Ha, you sound like your from the Midwest (Wisconsin, Minnesota, ect.) when you try to speak with an American accent. Try out a "you betcha" and a "Don't cha know". It would be hilarious.

I learned about “pants” the hard way when I was staying with a friend in England and was upset because I forgot to wear a belt and said my pants were falling down and I’ll tell you, the look on his face was priceless!
