Using diesel to spray down forms and ground is a violation of EPA. They might be coming to see you in the near future.

This looks like a rookie operation, personally I cut down my own trees found on my property and mill them into planks for the formwork. I also go along country roads and collect gravel to make my own concrete mix. Trust me buddy I’ve been working in this industry for 400 years, you could learn a thing or two, soft hands brother.

Just diesel to wet ? Yeah okay buddy I’ve been doing this for almost a 100 years and everyone knows the best to use is old kerosene found on a sunken pirate ship, if you’re gonna do something do it right 🗿

adding more water to stretch the concrete 😂😂😂

As a EPA administrator the only VIOLATION I see is the gentleman not taking a drink of that garden hose to make sure it meets all taste requirements per code before pour!

If you add the diesel to the concrete while its still in the truck,
the whole batch becomes non-stick.

You’re a funny guy calling out all those concrete hacks and code violations.

Dude is fully serious about everything he said
1 Diesel for sure works as form release, its cheaper than ev friendly j strip.. hes NOT spraying diesel on the ground on the video... hes talking about it
2 wetting down the ground makes the concrete retain water longer, giving you more time to work it
3 a wet slump like that is also fine... hes line pumping pea gravel so its 6+ sack for a patio... psi is more than enough. It appears better than it is, the line pump tends to clump the rocks up, but its still stiff
4 chairs are better, but u dont need rebar in that except to keep the steps from separating.. even on the bottom it will do its job.. although over time it will rust, corrode, oxidize, expand and could crack the slab... buy probly on the bottom only
5 that blue shit is probably something for exposing the surface later, likely top cast..although not the best method imo. Sugar and same day exposure will be better if you strip, face, sugar and then wash a bit later
6 finish looks meh. Just hire pros, relax, get referrals from A+ workers and stop bein a cheap ass, small pour like that, yourself plus 2 guys, even figuring 70 an hour, 20 u lost from the state and 50 for the actual guy its like a 6 hour pour... 420 each only make 19, 160 and itll look perfect
7 Adding water does NOT make the concrete go further lmfao, maybe like 1% negligible.. if you are ordering the exact amount with NO waste youre crazy, youll send for a short load and lose $$ way more than the $110 you save not getting an extra yard

That last part would sound more truthful if the state of Washington actually arrested people and sent them to jail.

Another good trick to make concrete go further, is to throw old rubble, bricks, stones (round or angular, makes no difference, it's all about volume!) into the mix to bulk it up. I save any leftover concrete from the last pour for this purpose. Sand works well too, if you are near a beach. I've saved well over $200k over my 43 years as a concrete placer using this method, along with adding about 10% water by volume, depending on stiffness of the concrete and the weather

I have been praying for EmmaLee. I’m happy her surgery itself went well. Hopefully her pain has been well controlled now. I imagine besides the pain part, she will feel her breathing is improved even this early on. I’m praying she has no complications and is able to safely go home as planned in a couple days. There’s nothing better than home for recovery. Mom and dad’s good food and the peace and quiet. Except for the dogs. lol. Anyway, personally I have had 8 surgeries with 6 being orthopedic surgeries and I learned that if pain is well controlled then you are able to walk and keep from getting any issues with crud in the lungs and keep the GI tract moving as well. God bless you all.
