Shortly after I graduated from high school in 1971 my father told me that Nixon had just removed dollars from the gold standard. He said we will have troubles from now on with our economy.

If this were a class taught in high school, we would all be focused on the truth of economics instead of stupid political bickering.
Back in 71 I was just starting high school.
We had to do a report and I wrote about Richard Nixon and TOTALLY DESTROYED him and his policies, including this very thing.
I got an F on that paper.
