Couples recreated one of cinema’s most romantic moments at Birmingham New Street Station on Saturday 3 February 2018.

The couples, wearing authentic 1940s costumes, brought to life the moment from Noel Coward’s Brief Encounter when two strangers meet and fall in love.

The stunt was created to celebrate the return of the live theatre show of Brief Encounter to the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. The hit play was first staged in the city in 2007 and went on to huge international acclaim.

The 1945 film, starring Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson, was named the ‘most romantic film’ of all time by a panel of actors, directors and critics in 2013.

The innovative stage play, produced by Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Kneehigh Theatre, uses live action and film to bring the movie classic to life.

Brief Encounter is at Birmingham Repertory Theatre until February 17th 2018.
