Diamonds In The Rough was originally released on CD in 2008 as part of the DVD+CD release “Live in the LBC/Diamonds in the Rough”. It is a compilation of b-sides recorded during the making of the band’s self-titled 2007 debut, rarities, covers and other non-album tracks. The 2020 vinyl and digital release of the album has been remastered and is expanded by 5 tracks, featuring the unreleased track “Set Me Free” (recorded during the “Hail To The King” sessions). It also includes other hard-to-find tracks such as the fan-favorite “St, James”, “4AM” and “Lost It All”. The 16 track album also includes the band’s cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid”, which originally came out in 2009 on the Warner Bros album “Covered”. The vinyl is released on limited edition clear vinyl.

I love how this song is just the exact opposite of So Far Away. So Far Away is so melancholy and sad, but this song is a celebration of life. Absolutey beautiful.

Listening to Matt's voice from years ago after listening tracks from The Stage feels like traveling in time

Every December 28th, we remember St. James. Drinking one for him right now as I do every year. RIP Rev.

“For every whisper he would scream. For every drought he’d share a drink. For every sorrow there’s a light from our St.James!”

They NEED to play this live as much as So Far Away.

Imagine the crowd singing along to the melody.

This is the story of a man,
Who conquered life drink in hand
Ship unmanned.
Marked by genius, channelled good,
By some a bit misunderstood.
They'd been wrong many times before

Some times our saints are sinners,
They blur the lines and lead the way,
Their Way.
Raise hell and a glass in reverence,
The fearless lives of our great saints - our saints.

Never a stranger to late night snake
Bite fist fights and empty pints,
Unrivaled heights.
He led with songs, they sang along,
Created bonds that held so strong
Some were right and some were wrong

Some times our saints are sinners,
They blur the lines and lead the way,
Their Way.
Raise hell and a glass in reverence,
The fearless lives of our great saints, our saints.

It's by the sea and at nights end that's when the sin and swill begin
That's when he had that certain light inside his head
For every whisper he would scream for every draught he shared a drink
For every sorrow there is a light from our St. James

On the sea by the cliff he watches, he waits the night to see
The day - his way
Last call will find us all
But there's a light that leads the way, our way.

Some times our saints are sinners,
They blur the lines and lead the way,
Their Way.
Raise hell and a glass in reverence,
The fearless lives of our great saints - our saints.

I always feel dumb when I get sad about a celebrity dying. But fuck, man. These guys created such influential works of art. In that, they shared themselves with us. And when they felt this loss, they shared it with us, too. And he won't ever create anything ever again, and we all lost him, and if I'm stupid then fuck it. We miss you, man.

I still remember when I discovered a7x, Jimmy had three years dead, the same year I met a7x, it took me a while to realize it, Jimmy had become one of my favorites guys of the band and without realizing it I didn't know that there was no possibility to knowing him one day, he was so talented, he had a very good voice, ability to interpret, and obviously he played the drums very well, added to one of the 100 best drummers of all time.
Today, I repeat a7x will always be my favorite band, it still is after a few years, and today I cried again for Jimmy's tragic loss, once again with this song. Jimmy will always be in our hearths. foREVer

I love how raw and emotional Matt’s vocals are in this song. They sound untouched to me

… that line hit hard
I can resonate with this one.
I got more than a few loved ones somewhere out there, that have been long gone from down here waiting for me when that time comes.

One of my best friends James died a few days ago. He always told me to play this at his funeral.
