What is HCI?
HCI is the study of how people interact with technology interfaces
users use keyboards, mouse and monitor to retrieve information and search for information.
today, computer expanded to mp3, cell phone and iPod and other devices.

goals of HCI: simple, accessible, useful

simple
-> complex technology to easy
accessible
-> main navigation, search feature(top right) and Links (on left)
-> stick with well-known convention

ted's value added model connects deeply with HCI concepts.
-> the model shows the characteristics of people behavior in choosing products

VSD(value sensitive design) is the approach to design of technology that accounts for human values in the design (end user dictate what is usable and intuitive)
-> conceptualization: goals and needs of end user
-> empirical: what research has done to prove what is preferable
-> technical: design technology support or hinder people's values?

Benefits of VSD:
adapt to different cultures & people

I learnt about HCI from yesterday at class in Unitec, Auckland, New Zealand. It's course for Web Design and Mulltimedia Development Diploma.
